THERMIT WELDING KIT
Thermit welding is a fusion welding process that makes use of the intense heat produced when a mixture containing iron oxide and powdered aluminium is ignited.
For the process of thermit welding, prefabricated refractory moulds are to be placed around the two square cut rail ends. After preheating the rail ends the gap of about 20 mm is filled from a crucible containing a chemically heated charge of molten steel.
The refractory moulds and portion which is used to initiate the welding is the important part of the welding kit.
Gallant engineering supplies prefabricated moulds and weld portions for all types of crane rails.
